Summer Kick Off

Well, if Hawaii wasn't the right way to kick off the summer then I don't know what is. Now we've returned and are finally starting to get over the jet lag and life is still busy. We're enjoying some alone time now after being with family for a few weeks it's nice to have time to ourselves. Aubrey just started swim class. Aubrey is in love with swimming now. She really likes class so we'll see how the next few weeks go. Brandon and I are fighting over who gets to take her into the pool. I hope I keep winning! I'm just starting to plan out our summer calendar and it seems really full. We have one more big trip before summers over, I think it will be quite the adventure!

Last Days

Our last days in Hawaii were very relaxing. We went to a wonderful luau. Unfortunately it got rained out so we had to have it indoors but it was still nice. Aubrey was totally absorbed into the show! We went to the beach and did a little more shopping. We leaving for the airport in about half an hour and will be home around ten tonight-- Portland time. Brandon and I agree that our batteries are recharged and we are ready to get back to life. This should be a summer of fun fun fun! I can not wait! See you soon! Aloha.

We Survived the Road to Hana!

Saturday we spent the entire day driving to and from Hana and making all the stops along the way. Aubrey was a trooper through the road trip and we got a lot of great pictures. Hana is a narrow, hair-pin turned, cliff sided drive for those of you who don't know! We got some great scenic shots. The two main attractions were the Black Sand Beach and the Seven Sacred Pools. It was really an experience and totally worth the trip. Also, Rainbow Eucalyptus trees are probably the coolest thing we've ever seen! It was such a great day. But it was an exhausting drive and we actually haven't done anything since we returned Saturday night! However, tonight we are going to a wonderful Luau! It should be so much fun! It was all I wanted to do this entire trip.

Lahina Shopping

Today was a day filled with shopping! We had so much fun picking out gifts for all of you! We had lunch at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company! Let me tell you the food was sooo good! We sat at a nice table right on the water. We enjoyed some smoothies under the banyan tree. A great day! And tomorrow we are braving the road to Hana! Hopefully we'll get good pictures. We're planning to stop at the Black Sand Beach and the Seven Sacred Pools.

Baby Beach

Today was a nice day. We finally found Puunoa Beach mostly known as Baby Beach in Lahina. It has a reef far out so there are virtually no waves on the shore. Aubrey was very brave in going in by herself and was really anxious to swim. She had a blast and were starting to wonder how we're going to explain to her that we can't swim in our ocean back home! I'm getting ready to make Spam Musubi. Yum! And tonight Brandon and I are going out to try and find the turtles laying eggs on the beach. Hopefully we'll see some! Wish us luck! Aloha.

Up Country

Today we avoided the sun. It's good to have a break between long sun filled days. In Maui to aviod the sun you go up country. We went to the Lavender Farm. It was refreshing and relaxing. It was a really nice photo opportunity. Lots of wild things growing. Aubrey had fun picking all the different kinds of Lavender and smelling them. Near the end she had a little bouquet of lavender that we photographed on the purple bench. After the lavender farm we stopped by the Surfing Goat Farm. Aubrey pet a few baby goats and then it was back home for the much anticipated nap!
