Busy Bees

Well it seems that moving to PDX has made our lives a lot busier-- in a good way. This week Aubrey had her first gymnastics class, if you could call it that, they are only 1 1/2. Note to self running around jumping and rolling off of stuff in a giant padded room = recipe for toddler bliss. Unfortunately, due to Aubrey's shy nature I was glued to her side for the majority of class and was unable to get pictures or video. However, I do think next week she will be less needy and I should have tons of opportunities to get some footage. Another big first this week was Aubrey's first haircut! Well, bang trim but it still counts. Her hair was always getting into her eyes and it never seemed to get long enough to tuck behind her ears-- ergo bangs. The bad thing is that Aubrey is the proud owner of a mullet. Her hair just doesn't grow on the sides! Oh well, she's still rocking the bangs and lets face it, everything looks good on her.

OMSI

Today was a wonderfully fun-filled day. Aubrey spent the entire morning at her beloved OMSI, mostly in the Science Playground, where she met a little girl with the exact same birthday as her! It was super awesome, but her mom could have left out the birth slash bed-rest story. I don't know her name but I know she had placenta previa-- awkward. However, we did rendezvous with the rest of our gang in the Ball Room for quite some time. Alas, the love of firing balls at fellow play mates isn't reserved only for little boys; big boys do it too! Just kidding, I meant girls like it too. I had to lure Aubrey out of there with the promise of more balls somewhere else. Naturally, I was depending on the short attention span of toddlers which worked out great because at OMSI it's hard not to be distracted by the million cool exhibits all around. We ended our day with great sushi and great family. Aubrey may not have liked the shrimp but she sure loved licking up soy sauce!

"Hit It, Bubbles"

Alas, there's a new love in Aubrey's life-- bubbles. Her last encounter with the esteemed children's pass time proved to be a disappointing one; it was full of tears and screams. However, now they bring such pleasure it makes her belly ache from laughter. Hats off to Uncle Ty who never ceases to keep Aubrey entertained. Enjoy!

Big Girl

It has been decided that Aubrey Noelle, 19 months old, is now a "Big Girl." To kick off this event we headed to IKEA to pick out the perfect new bed, or as Aubrey says, "noon bed." She went with the sleek red "kritter" bed, mostly because of the cat and dog on the headboard. It's been almost a week and it's worked out great. She doesn't even get out of it until we come in to get her in the morning.
Also, Aubrey has taken to using utensils with her meals. She is a lady who knows what she wants and will not settle for anything less aka diva. Haha. Feeding herself is too cute to watch.

Westmoreland Pride

The Westmoreland/Sellwood neighborhood is treating Aubrey very well. We are two blocks from the amazing Westmoreland Park which has quickly become one of Aubrey's favorite pass times. She loves the geese and ducks! We've enjoyed numerous walks all around the area and discover something new all the time. Today Aubrey registered at the Sellwood Community Center for Toddler Gymnastics- Romp & Roll as well as summer swim classes at the Sellwood pool.

The new house has been wonderful for everyone. Aubrey loves seeing her Papa and Uncle Tyler all the time. She is loving having a yard and being able to be out in it whenever she wants-- weather permitting. She has been practicing her "summersots," or somersaults, getting ready for gymnastics-- always ahead of the curve.
